Updates - Protect Your SiteI have had two WordPress blogs hacked into in the past. That was at a time when I was doing very little internet marketing, and until I found time to address the situation (months later), these sites were penalised in the search engines. They were not removed, but the rankings were reduced.
Installing the fix malware problem Scan plugin alert you that you might have missed, and will check most of this for you. It will also tell you that a user named"admin" exists. Of course, that is your user name. If you wish you can follow a link and find instructions for changing that name. I think that a password is enough security that is good, and there have been no attacks on the sites that I run, because I followed those steps.
The one I recommend, and the approach, is to use one of the creation and storage plugins available on your browser. I believe after a trial period, you have to pay for it, although RoboForm is liked by people. I use the free version of Lastpass, and I recommend it for those who use Firefox or Internet Explorer. That will generate secure passwords for you; then you use one master password to log in.
Keep control of your online assets - Nothing is worse than that site having your livelihood in someone else's hands. Why take chances with something as important as your website?
Make a note of your new password to the next time you sign in! I suggest the paid or free version of the secure software *Roboform* to remember your passwords.
These are some. Thing is they don't need much time to do. These are also simple options, which can be carried out easily.
